BRIEF OVERVIEW
Origins and Consolidation
ECOGAS INVERSIONES S.A. is an Argentine corporation established in 1992 under the name Inversora de Gas del Centro S.A., within the framework of the privatization process of Gas del Estado, which until then had been the state-owned company responsible for providing natural gas transportation and distribution services through networks.
Since its incorporation, the company acquired a shareholding stake that granted it control over Distribuidora de Gas del Centro S.A., the licensed provider of natural gas distribution services in the Argentine provinces of Córdoba, Catamarca, and La Rioja.
In 2019, the company took part in a merger by absorption, through which—acting as the surviving entity—it became the controlling company of Distribuidora de Gas Cuyana S.A., the licensed provider of natural gas distribution services in the Argentine provinces of San Juan, San Luis, and Mendoza.
Distribuidora de Gas del Centro S.A. and Distribuidora de Gas Cuyana S.A. operate under the ECOGAS brand, covering a service area spanning 672,829 km², delivering approximately 15% of the total natural gas supplied by all distribution companies in the country, and serving over 1.4 million customers, which represent more than 15% of the nation’s total customer base.
Corporate Structure and Ownership Framework
The Company also controls Energía Sudamericana S.A. (the leading marketer of natural gas for industries and compressed natural gas [CNG] stations in central Argentina) and Gasdifex S.A. (the first high-flow compressed natural gas fueling station in Argentina, designed for fast refueling of large vehicles; currently, it operates in Mendoza a fueling station for buses and another for private vehicles).
In this way, the Company acts as the holding entity of the ECOGAS Group, controlling Distribuidora de Gas del Centro S.A., Distribuidora de Gas Cuyana S.A., Energía Sudamericana S.A., and Gasdifex S.A.
To date, the Company has engaged exclusively in investment activities, accumulating over 30 years of experience in Argentina’s gas sector, positioning itself as an industry benchmark. Recently, its corporate purpose has been expanded, enabling it to carry out operational activities.
Stock Market Presence
At the end of 2024, the Company entered the Public Offering of Shares Regime of the Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV – Argentine Securities and Exchange Commission). Class D shares are listed on BYMA under the ticker ECOG.
